After successfully growing various members of the protea family for over 20 years at our home in Governors Bay, we decided to expand this interest. We bought our 50 acre property in 1996 with the intention of planting a forestry block and grazing cattle, as well as producing proteaceae as a cut flower crop. The planting of the proteas, leucadendrons etc on a steep, sunny hillside began in the Autumn of 1997.

Early propagation experiments proved encouraging and when opportunities to branch into the nursery side arose, we changed tack slightly and now concentrate on plant production and sales more than extending plantings for the cut flower market.

With backgrounds in engineering and teaching, the process of learning to run a nursery business has been a challenge - but one we enjoy immensely.
