Desirable newer hybrid introduction. Rich, deep orange-red 'pincushions'age to almost carmine over late spring/summer. Neat, bushy habit to 1.5m. Nice for picking. Medium frost hardy.

Hybrid - L. tottum x L. vestitum.  Compact, neat and bushy to 1.5m x 1.5m. Small, neat, grey-green foliage. Massed displays of compact 'pincushion' heads of deepest orange to almost red aging deeper - late spring through mid-summer. Light to medium frosts tolerated.

(Ls. prostratum) A good choice as a prostrate groundcover or wall trailer, especially in coastal, sandy gardens. Small rounded 'pompom' flowers in profusion during summer. These start out as lemon-yellow, become orange and finally age to red - all three colours can be seen at once as such a mass of flowers occur. A bonus is the lovely citrus perfume. Good drainage and sun required. Light frost only.

A prostrate shrub forming dense mats 1-3m across. Small heads of creamy flowers aging to a reddish-carmine are borne in spring. Useful on banks or trailing over walls.

Vigorous cultivar with masses of very bright orange 'pincushion' flowers over late spring and summer. Can grow to 2m high and 3 metres wide and will cope with frosts of -5c.

'Skyrocket pincushion'. Larger growing species with neat grey-green foliage. Bushy, dense habit to 2.5m with equal spread. Striking 'skyrocket' flowers of rich reddish-orange with reflexed styles are borne on strong erect stems over summer. Wind tolerant and ideal for beach gardens. Medium frost hardy.

'Cape Gold'. Stunning clear yellow flowers over late spring and early summer are very useful for picking.  The bush has pale, silvery-green foliage and grows to around 2m. Tolerates salt laden winds and light to medium frost.

Large, brillant orange 'pincushion' flowers (often multi-headed) are carried on long, stout stems from late October to January. Wonderful picking and incredible garden display. Dense, bushy shrub to 1.5 x 1.5m. Tolerant of frosts to -4C when established.       

(Hybrid - L. glabrum x L. tottum ) A particularly robust and hardy example having salmon pink flowerheads with bright red 'ribbons' on long stems for a prolonged period during summer. An excellent picker and garden plant. Bushy growth to 2m. Reliable and hardy to frosts of -4C.

s patersonii  hybrid. Vivid, orange-red large 'pincushion' flowers from late spring into summer. Unusual wavy-margined grey-green leaves. Dense bushy shrub to 1.5m. Requires sun and good drainage. Protect from heavy frosts.  

Rich red 'pincushions' with iridescent orange highlights - long stems, lovely picker - mid-season.  Narrower foliage with a bronze cast. Dense, erect habit to 1.5m - 2m max. Light frosts only tolerated. A very classy, newer variety.

Cuneiforme. An erect, slender stemmed shrub with intermediate length stems bearing bright yellow domed pincushion flowers from late spring to mid-summer. Attractive growth habit 1.5-2m. Medium frost hardy.
